A study published in the Journal of Health Psychology, eating “on the go” may thwart your weight loss goals.

Eating on the go can wreck your diet - here's how...

The study involved three groups consisting of 20 women each. It tested the effects of various forms of “distracted” snacking. For example: Eating while walking, having a conversation or watching TV.

The researchers found that among women who were on diets, eating while moving had an undesirable effect: They ate substantially more than other dieters a short time later.

People who eat on the run may not be fully aware of what they’re eating. Or, they may feel like they “deserve” more food later on because they’re being active. Dieters may be especially prone to that mindset, because they’re habitually denying themselves.
