Fruit is high in sugar so you know to avoid fruit when you're trying to lose a couple of kilos - right?

Fruits that can help you lose weight!

Grapfruit: 78 calories

In one study, 85 obese people ate grapefruit or drank grapefruit juice before meals for 12 weeks. They saw 7.1% decrease in body weight and improved cholesterol levels at the end of the study. 

In a recent review of studies, researchers confirmed that grapefruit consumption reduces body fat, waist circumference and blood pressure compared to control groups.

If you don't like the bitterness of grapefruit, add it to your salads for a lovely fresh tang.

Apples: 116 calories

In a study, women were given three apples, three pears, or three oat cookies per day - all containing the same calorie value - for 10 weeks. The group that ate the apples lost 910g, while the group that ate the pears lost 840g and the group that ate the cookies didn't lose any weight.

In another study involving 124,086 people, those who ate apples lost an average 560g per daily serving over a four-year period.

Berries: 42 calories for half a cup

In one study, 61 overweight people ate 200 grams of avocado as part of their daily diet and experienced significant weight loss.

In another large study, people who ate avocados tended to follow healthier diets, and had a lower risk of metabolic syndrome, and lower body weights than people who didn’t eat them.
