You have to get the right amount of sleep to keep your heart health in check
After years of research, experts say the average, optimal amount of
sleep you need is between seven and nine hours every night.
Six is definitely too little – it doesn’t give your body enough time to repair itself. And more than ten is far too much!
This because your body starts going through
sleep cycles again. If you continue to
sleep, you’ll sleep deeper than before because of the cycles, with the deep sleep cycles becoming longer and longer.
This means, when you do wake up – usually with an alarm – you’re likely to wake up out of a very deep sleep. So it’s no wonder you feel groggy and sleepy! You didn't come out of a lighter cycle of sleep, which would leave you feeling awake and refreshed.
Because your body now takes longer to adjust to being awake, it feels under
stress. And, as you know, increasing your body’s
stress levels is the worst thing you can do!
Think about what inflammation does to your heart health.
That’s right!
If you keep doing it and putting your body through this type of inflammatory response, you’ll end up with
heart disease.
A blog post on
reddit.com, however, says there’s an easy solution if you find you can’t survive with less than ten hours sleep…

Sleep for 8 hours solid – without waking up once – starting tonight!
First your concentration levels deteriorate. Then you can’t remember simple things like where you left the keys or if you turned the stove off. And after that your decision-making abilities become compromised and your response time worsens – making you vulnerable to car accidents. And if you think that’s bad. The long-term effects are far worse.
Depression.
Heart disease.
High blood pressure. This is what happens when you don’t get enough sleep…
But now, Dr. Vincent Giampapa, past-President of the American Academy of
Anti-Ageing Medicine, has found a drug-free way to help eliminate insomnia so you can sleep like a baby – every night!

Use an activity tracker to get the right amount of sleep and save your heart health
Activity trackers – or wearables – hit the market
hard this year.
And with
Nike, Fitbit, Garmin, Polar and all the other big names in the sporting and health world coming out with their own versions of activity trackers, there’s a good chance you’ll find one you’re looking for.
So what
are you looking for in an activity tracker?
One that monitors your sleeping habits, of course!
Simply wearing the device while you sleep monitors your sleeping patterns for a few days and then, when it has enough data, it’ll wake you up at a time you’re in a lighter stage of sleep.
Don’t worry; this won’t be at 3am!
You’ll need to stick to a proper sleeping schedule while “training” your device. This will allow it to wake you up at the right time so you don’t only wake up easily, but you don’t miss work either!
So, while there are certain instances where sleeping a little longer can be good for you, sleeping too much is the root cause of many chronic illnesses that plague you later in life.
You must learn to sleep between seven and nine hours every night to maintain good heart health.
