There’s a strong link between your gut and overall health
Researchers have known for a long time that the root cause of many chronic illnesses is the malfunction of the
immune system and inflammatory conditions. But they haven’t been able to pinpoint exactly what the link is.
It’s only been in more recent years that experts have found out just how important the gut is! And that 80% of your
immune system is in the gut itself.
That means, when something goes wrong with your gut, things start going wrong with your health!
And it’s no different for diseases that cause chronic heart failure and other types of heart diseases.
Here’s what a 2007 study found about the link between patients with heart failure and gut health…

Researchers found massive increases in gut permeability in heart failure patients
The study compared the guts of 22 heart failure patients’ to 22 healthy ones.
They found that heart failure patients had 35% increased gut leaking in their small intestine. And a whopping 210% leaking from their large intestine.
This means, not only were they not absorbing the right nutrients for their bodies and heart to function normally, but there was a huge amount of bacteria and other harmful substances entering the blood.
It’s no wonder their hearts gave out. And why putting more focus on your gut health might be a valuable way to keep your heart health in check…
Focus your attention on your gut health to keep your heart health in shape
In 2008, two studies proved how important your gut health is for your overall heart health.
The first one showed how inflammation, increased intestinal permeability and leaky gut syndrome causes chronic heart failure.
You see, when the lining of the gut isn’t as intact as it’s supposed to be, it messes with the way transport proteins work. This causes high inflammatory responses within your body and
The second study showed how, because of an increase in the leakiness of your gut lining, there are more toxins that pass through from your gut into your blood. This has a detrimental effect on your heart because the toxins also pass through your heart and its muscle as it pumps blood around your system.
Inflammation and your immune system attack your heart muscle because of it and your heart isn’t able to work like it should.
So instead of focussing too much of your time on physical activity, blood cholesterol and your
blood pressure, spend some time focussing on your diet…

Heal your gut from the inside out to keep your heart health in check
Keeping your gut healthy and preventing leaky gut syndrome is an important part of heart health.
It’ll also help keep cholesterol levels in the normal range and your blood pressure under control. Both these conditions are inflammatory, so keeping your immune system happy and healthy could keep these under control too!
And it’s as easy as avoiding foods that cause stomach troubles, medications that harm your gut lining and other toxins that affect your gut health.
An Australian study shows that eating more green leafy vegetables is a great way to heal your gut from the inside out. They stimulate the healing cells within the gut lining to flourish. And that’s good news for your heart and the rest of your body.
