This tasty food duo could reduce your heart attack risk by a third!

by , 09 April 2015

If you want to reduce your risk of a heart attack by as much as 33%, you need to build-up of the lipids in your arterial walls, reveals a new study out of Tel Aviv.

And there are two tasty foods that - when you eat them together - do just that.

Read on to find out what they are.

Israeli scientists couldn’t believe the power of these phenomenal heart healthy foods

It’s no secret that dates and pomegranates are packed full of health-giving vitamins and minerals. But according to Tel Aviv professor, Michael Aviram, “they make a dynamic duo in the war on heart disease.”
The reason?
Because they contain two very different, very powerful phenolic antioxidants that can cut your heart attack risk by as much as a third.
As he explains in an interview with The Malay Mail:
“The key ingredients in pomegranate juice are plant-derived polyphenolic antioxidants that slow the body’s oxidation process. These reduce oxidative stress. While dates contain phenolic radical scavenger antioxidants, which hinder the oxidation of low-density lipoprotein (LCL) cholesterol, also known as “bad-cholesterol.” These scavenger antioxidants […] also stimulate the removal of cholesterol from arterial cells that come into contact with lipids.”
How powerful are they?
Well, Aviram’s mouse study showed that when given a cocktail containing pomegranate juice and ground-up date pits, it reduced oxidative stress in the arterial wall by 33% per cent and decreased arterial cholesterol content by 28%.
That’s good news for your heart.
And the news gets better.

Two more reasons why pomegranates and dates make it on to the list of top heart healthy diet must-haves

In 2007, lab and clinical studies revealed that pomegranate juice doesn’t just prevent heart disease, it can reverse it too. The study, published in Life Extension Magazine, revealed that pomegranate juice offers “unprecedented cardiovascular protection by restoring endothelial health, lowering blood pressure, and protecting low-density lipoprotein (LDL) from damaging oxidation.”
Add to this the fact that a former study of Aviram’s revealed that dates can decrease in triglyceride (fats) levels by 15% and produce a 33% drop in fat oxidation in your blood, and there really is no reason to ignore this news.
Especially when you consider all it takes to reap these benefits is three dates and one glass of pomegranate juice every day.

Don't let the next statistic be you!
