Latest advice from the American Heart Association: “Take statins as a daily vitamin?”

by , 26 November 2014

My eyes nearly popped out of my head when I read Monday's health message from the American Health Association (AHA).

I mean come on?

It's a well-known fact that, during the past 20 years, over 900 studies have scientifically DEBUNKED the use of statins. And let's not even mention the 300 KNOWN SIDE EFFECTS of the drug.

So why in the world is the AHA saying: “Nearly everyone aged 66 to 75 should consider taking statins to reduce their risk of heart attack and stroke?” And why should you ignore it?

Let's take a look…

*********** Check this out! *************

And May Cost You Your Life

Find out why doctor-recommended heart treatments only benefit 3% of patients... And how you can slash your heart disease risk without drugs, surgery, or mainstream medical intervention

Here’s why the AHA is recommending “statins for everyone”

According to an article published in the Journal of the American Medical Association, the AHA’s arguing that statins are crucial for overall health as you get older. And not just if you already suffer from heart disease, diabetes or have high levels of bad cholesterol.

It says they’re even essential for healthy adults. This because your risk of heart attack and stroke shoots up by 7.5% the day you turn 66.

And that’s why, during your annual physical, your doctor will ask you four questions. Answer “yes” to any of them and protocol calls for a statin drug.

These questions are:

  1. Do you have heart disease?
  2. Do you have diabetes? (either type 1 or type 2)
  3. Is your LDL (bad) cholesterol above 190?
  4. Is your ten-year risk of a heart attack greater than 7.5%? (If you’re older than 66, you’ll fall into this risk group based on age alone.)

It’s no wonder then hundreds of thousands of South Africans take them every day.

But should they really be doing this?

Warning: Taking statins could cause a host of dangerous complications

While the study calls for millions of people to jump on the “statin train”, alternative medicine expert, Dr Mercola says he “couldn't disagree more”.

This because there are over “900 studies proving [statins’] adverse effects, which run the gamut from muscle problems to increased cancer risk,” he explains.

And the number of people who suffer these side effects aren’t small.

In 2013, researchers from Ireland decided to objectively review the dangers of statins by studying the databases of Pubmed, EM-BASE and Cochrane in detail.

What they found is so shocking, we’re surprised it didn’t make headlines.

Their research showed that for every 10,000 people taking a statin, there were:
  • 307 extra patients with cataracts.
  • 23 additional patients with acute kidney failure.
  • And 74 extra patients with liver dysfunction.

The review also showed that statin therapy increased:
  • Muscle fatigue by 30%. (And at high doses, statins increased the incidence of rhabdomyolysis – a life-threatening muscle condition – by 11%.)
  • Coronary artery and aortic calcification.
  • Incidents of memory loss and amnesia.
  • Erectile dysfunction. (Shockingly, results showed young men who take statins are ten times more likely to suffer from this than older men.)
  • Diabetes.
  • And cancer.

In fact, their study revealed that statin drugs are to blame for over 300 side effects!

Yet, despite these findings, statins remain the protocol of choice. And they’ll continue to be thanks to announcements like the one the AHA made this week.

But does that mean you have to follow this treatment option?

No!

You have a choice when it comes to how you keep your heart healthy…

Are you getting the one simple mineral that helps restore normal blood pressure, lowers cholesterol and opens clogged arteries?

I know it sounds too good to be true, but this readily available mineral really does exist. Its positive effects on the heart appear to be connected with the fact that it boosts nitric oxide in the cells that line the blood vessels.

If not statins, what else can you use to keep your hearth health in check?

According to best-selling health author, William L. Fischer, niacin (that’s good old Vitamin B3 to you and me) is just as effective as statins when it comes to keeping your cholesterol levels and heart health in check.

This because it gathers up the extra “bad” (LDL) cholesterol in your blood and delivers it to your liver to get rid of.

It’s so effective, some studies reveal very significant drops in total cholesterol through niacin treatment, adds naturalhealthmag.com. (The only problem with this treatment is the large doses you have to take. This can be harmful if you have liver problems. So speak to your doctor about this option before you try it and get him to monitor you closely.)

Another great natural alternative to statin therapy are Omega 3s

Countless studies reveal that Omega 3s cover every aspect of heart health. But it’s when it comes to cholesterol that they really shine.

This because they boost your HDL or “good” cholesterol. And HDL is key to flushing out the bad cholesterol.

So there you have it. Don’t be coerced into thinking you have no other options but to take dangerous statins to keep your heart health in check. Speak to your doctor about the alternatives – before you find yourself dealing with even more health problems.
