A new study out of Canada found that if you make just one tiny change to what you eat for breakfast each morning, you could slash your LDL cholesterol by as much as 23%.

Not only this, the researchers also found that this one ingredient also reduces non-HDL cholesterol and apolipoprotein B (apoB).

This is big news because for every 1% drop in serum cholesterol, there's a 2% reduction in heart disease risk.

The research which analysed 58 clinical trials involving almost 4,000 people showed that eating three grams of oat fibre daily could bring you these health benefits.

The study showed that oat bran, as opposed to whole grain oats (the kind used for oatmeal), is key for reducing cholesterol.

Whole oats are processed further for oatmeal, while oat bran contains the goodness that reduces LDL cholesterol and the other heart disease markers.

The Mayo Clinic recently looked at 13 controlled trials involving 3,629 people. It concluded that L-carnitine had many heart benefits and reported:
