This is how eating walnuts protect your heart
 
The researchers compared the antioxidant levels found in nine types of roasted and raw nuts. They found that walnuts contain nearly 70 units of polyphenols, a form of antioxidant. The polyphenols were also up to 15 times more potent than those found in other nuts.
 
As a result, researchers believe these antioxidants reduce heart disease risk in two main ways:
