Vitamin E is a fat
-soluble vitamin and a potent antioxidant. It can help protect cells from free radical damage. Free radicals affect skin cells by causing a loss of elasticity, age spots, fine lines and wrinkles. Vitamin E therefore protects skin from these common signs of ageing
Polyphenols are powerful antioxidants. You might’ve heard of these before since red wine, green tea and olives are also rich in polyphenols – one of the main reasons they’re oh-so-healthy! Studies have shown that when applied to the skin, polyphenols offer ultraviolet radiation protection and enhance skin cell regeneration, improving elasticity and tone.
Natural SPF properties
A study conducted in the year 2000 found that the UVA and UVB protection afforded by red raspberry seed oil is reportedly similar to titanium dioxide with an SPF protection factor against UVA rays of around 8, and an SPF protection factor against UVB rays of 28 to 50.
Why you should try out red raspberry seed oil as a natural sunscreen
I’m happy to report that I’ve been using red raspberry seed oil daily for the past eight weeks, and have achieved some fantastic results. The oil leaves my skin super smooth and hydrated, and doesn’t clog my pores at all. It’s quickly absorbed, too, which I love.
I’d say red raspberry seed oil falls in between a dry oil like tamanu or rose hip and a slightly heavier oil like jojoba, which is perfect since I personally blend the two, and advise my readers to do the same to get the perfect consistency that your face and body will just adore.

As far as sun protection goes, I’ve been using the oil daily on my face. It definitely suits my day-to-day sun protection needs (I run in the early morning and am outdoors during my lunch break at work, but am otherwise in the office). I’ll most definitely continue to use red raspberry seed oil as a natural sunscreen on my face. I recommend you try it out, too! I don’t, however, suggest using this oil as a full-body sunscreen – it probably won’t offer sufficient protection and could feel a bit sticky or oily.
Where to buy red raspberry seed oil
I searched high and low for a quality red raspberry seed oil before finding one by Botanical Beauty on Amazon.com (go here
to buy your own bottle online now).
The stuff was like a rainbow unicorn: I’d heard of its amazingness for so long, but just couldn’t seem to find a product with good reviews. And then I stumbled across Botanical Beauty’s red raspberry seed oil on Amazon while looking for something totally unrelated. Don’t you just love it when life throws you a little treat like that?
If you lack the patience required to buy something online, have a look for red raspberry seed oil at your local pharmacy or health store.
