Prevent men's prostate problems by eating this leafy green regularly
We've long known that lycopene, a carotenoid that's responsible for the red to pink colours seen in tomatoes, pink grapefruit and other foods, can help prevent men's prostate problems by promoting health of the prostate gland.

Now, a study from Japan has found yet another nutrient that can help fight off men's prostate problems like BPH prostate and prostate cancer - neoxanthin. Both a carotenoid and xanthophyll, neoxanthin is found in leafy green vegetables. One leafy green that's particularly rich in neoxanthin is spinach.

Japanese researchers identify neoxanthin-rich spinach as a top food for preventing men’s prostate problems

To reach their findings, the researchers from Hokkaido University tried to grow three types of prostate cancer cells in 15 different laboratory cultures. They supplemented each cell group with a different type of vitamin, including beta-carotene and lycopene.
To their surprise, the researchers found that of all the vitamins they tested, neoxanthin was the most effective at preventing the growth of prostate cancer cells. They noted that the food with the highest total concentration of neoxanthin is spinach.
