Revealed: Vigorous exercise can prevent colds and flu!

Unlike traditional ways of gathering health information from doctors and hospitals, this innovative method collects data directly from the man in the street. This way, it also tracks people who don’t visit the doctor when they have the flu.

More than 4,800 people have taken part in this online survey this year, enabling researchers to formulate trends about the current flu season.

The survey shows that people who do vigorous exercise for 2.5 hours per week could reduce their risk of getting the flu by 10%. They didn’t see the same results in people who exercise moderately.

Now, there’s an inexpensive way to beat the flu!

But what does vigorous exercise actually mean?

Health experts describe vigorous exercise as activities that raise your pulse rate, make you sweat AND make you breathe fast and hard so you’re unable to say a few words without pausing for breath. This is the type of exercise researchers found helped reduce flu symptoms.

Moderate exercise, on the other hand, also raises your pulse rate and makes you sweat, but it doesn’t make you breathe so fast and hard so you can barely talk.

Don’t participate in vigorous exercise if you’re experiencing symptoms of flu

Vigorous exercise may be a more effective alternative to the flu injection when it comes to preventing colds and flu, but experts at the American College of Sports Medicine warn not to do vigorous exercise when you’re sick. It could do more harm than good.
