Getting restful sleep is a pillar of overall wellness - here are three tools to calm your mind and rest your body for the best sleep ever!
You know that you need to get enough sleep every night to be more energetic and productive during your wake hours. But you also know that it's easier said than done! Luckily, I've got a few secrets up my sleeve...

Read on for three simple tools that will help you create a bedtime ritual to calm your mind and prepare your body for the best sleep ever - every night!

Three tips to create a bedtime ritual for restful sleep

#1: Apply lavender essential oil to your skin to signal your brain to wind down
A clinical study published by the National Institute of Health proved that lavender essential oil lengthens and deepens sleep. Other research shows that the oil can effectively fight insomnia. Therefore, if you use this wonderfully soothing, relaxing oil every night, the delightful scent will signal your brain that it’s time to catch some z’s even before you get into bed!

For best results, you should apply the oil to your skin in an intentional, mindful way – switch off the lights to tell your brain that it’s time to get some rest, then rhythmically rub a few drops of the oil into your pulse points. Areas you should focus on include your inner wrists, the crease of your elbow, the sides of your throat and your chest. But if you only want to apply the oil to your wrists, that alone will work wonders, too!

********** The solution you’ve been looking for ********

Can you help me with my pain?

Your knees burn, finger crack and back throbs, yet modern medicine doesn’t have the slightest clue on how to solve it.

Sound familiar?

Our doctors and our government have us trapped in an “endless pain cycle.”

They prescribe drugs that mask your aches, pains, arthritis and more – but that’s where it stops.

They last a few short hours – and then you need more.

#2: Get into a relaxing yoga pose to help your body feel centred and grounded
Next, it’s time to get into position! Get into your bed and grab two soft, comfy pillows and place one under your knees and the other under your head, adjusting them as you need to feel as comfortable as possible. Then, pull your duvet over your body and place another bed pillow on your tummy and an eye pillow over your eyes.

Lie still for three to five minutes, allowing the gentle weight of the pillows to help your body feel centred and grounded. This practise could even count as your daily meditation!

#3: Practise breath work to power down your mind
Last but not least, it’s time for some breath work to stimulate the largest nerve in your central nervous system, your vagus nerve. By stimulating this nerve, you’ll communicate to your brain that it’s time to ease into relax, rest and digest mode.

Simply breathe in slowly and calmly while you count to three for a few rounds. Tip: When you exhale, let go of all of the stressors weighing on your mind.

Sleep tight!
