The way you breathe could influence your overall health...
Researchers from the Stanford University and University of California recently confirmed that the way you breathe feeds important info to your brain about your surroundings...
If you take short, rapid breaths, your brain deduces that you're in danger, or that there are potential threats of which you need be fearful...
But if you breathe slowly and deeply, your brain reacts differently. It tells your body that you're okay...
This results in a state of calmness, better mood, lower
blood pressure, a sense of "I can handle things", the notion of less
pain, improved
sleep and an overall better state of health...
The part of the brain that picks up on your breathing is called the coeruleus and it's pre-programmed to make you feel anxious, weary and fearful if there's danger around so you can react quickly.
But the truth is, we've forgotten how to breathe properly - and we're always so preoccupied with the million other things we do (like being connected on our phones, receiving advertising messages and other stimuli) that we don't pay attention to how we are breathing...
Keep reading to find out how to change your breathing to feel less stressed out and improve your health...

And there’s a very good explanation for this…
Researchers at numerous institutions, including Harvard University, Johns Hopkins and Stanford University identified that certain chemicals flick the ‘age switch’ on in people over 50, forcing them to slow down.
These chemicals gradually build up in your bloodstream over time as you age.
Until one day the switch finally flicks causing your metabolism to drag along at snail’s pace, dropping your oxygen levels and dipping your hormones until they’re practically undetectable.
But it doesn't have to be that way!
The answer to restoring your youthful energy is as easy as 1-2-3…

Here's how you should breathe...
It's pointless only breathing properly during yoga, Thai chi, or when you meditate...
You need to aim to train yourself to breathe properly all day long.
But how do you breathe properly?
To be able to do this all the time, forget counting during breathing etc... Instead, just focus on breathing in deeply so that your tummy fills out (not just your chest) - and breathe out for longer than you breathe in... maintaining a slow, deep rhythm while you carry on with your normal day...
It may help to breathe in your nose and out your mouth to prolong exhaling.
So just keep reminding yourself to breathe - and follow these easy tips and know that you're doing a good thing for your health and wellbeing...
