Be prepared this summer: hot weather increases risk of kidney stones...
According to several studies, heatwave-generated dehydration can cause kidney stones.

Now, we all know global warming is making it hotter everywhere...

So, this coming summer is likely to send the mercury significantly higher too...

But what's that got to do with kidney stones? Take a look below...

Less water intake means a bigger risk for kidney stones...

It boils down to the fact that you lose more water in hot weather...

And, that's what makes you more prone to getting kidney stones!

We're not even talking about severe dehydration.

You've no doubt had days when your urine was dark and you haven’t been to the loo as often as you should have...

That's as a result of drinking less water...

You see, when you have less water in your body, your kidneys take their time. They wait for more water and urine takes longer to form.

This means the waste products sit in your kidneys for longer periods.

How to reduce your chances of developing kidney stones...

Because your body is 75% water, and every process needs water, you need to constantly replace what’s lost.

And when it’s hot and you’re losing even more water by sweating... You need to replace even more.

Drink 2 litres of water every day, and a bit more if you spend time outside in the heat.

Be extra cautious with your water intake if you are overweight, as this too is a risk factor for kidney stones.

Also, reduce your sugar and salt intake.

And, as much as possible, try to stay cool.
