In a recent study out of Japan's University of Hyogo, the researchers  recruited 63 office personnel. They observed them in their usual office spaces and during normal working conditions. 

After a few days of being observed, the participants chose a plant to keep on their desks. 

The researchers recorded the participants' stress levels by using psychological testing and by measuring their pulse rates.
