Your body goes into survival mode to protect you from dehydration
One of the first parts of your system that notices when your fluid levels are down is your
blood pressure.
Think about a syringe filled with water. When the syringe is fuller, the plunger is at its maximum height.
But, when some water leaks out, there’s air space in the chamber. So you need to make the area smaller. And you do so by adjusting the plunger.
While there’s no air inside your blood vessels, the same principle applies. Your body releases a hormone, vasopressin, which acts as a plunger on your blood vessels. It tells them to increase the pressure and make the chamber smaller.
But vasopressin also does something else. It tells your liver to release more stored sugar. So not only is your
blood sugar concentration higher because there’s less fluid, your liver sends more to your blood.
If you keep allowing yourself to become dehydrated, this process, over time, can cause type 2 diabetes.
That’s why you need to make every effort to increase your intake of water throughout the day.
And you can do so in these four easy ways…

Be sure to drink enough water throughout the day to keep your type 2 diabetes risk at bay
Tip #1: Keep water on you at all times
A full bottle of water in your bag or on your desk is a
must to keep dehydration at bay.
Take a few large sips throughout the day and fill it and empty it at least once more before the day is through.
Tip #2: Have a big glass of water as soon as you wake up
As soon as you get out of bed, have a tall glass of water. Not only does it stimulate your metabolism, it’s one glass of water down for the day! Keep a tall glass in the bathroom right next to the sink so you don’t forget.
Tip #3: Get a water drinking app on your phone
Because developers know how important it is to drink water all through the day, there are plenty of apps available to remind you it’s time to drink water. Most of them are free and very easy to use.
Tip #4: Drink a water spritzer in summer instead of juice
Now that it’s summer, you’ll probably switch from drinking lots of tea and coffee to juice. This alone could increase your type 2 diabetes risk because of the amount of sugar juice contains. Instead, drink soda water with a splash of fruit concentrate or fruit juice to increase overall water intake and protect your health while you’re at it.
There you have it! Prevent yourself from dehydration with these four tips and protect yourself from type 2 diabetes.
