Researchers at Weill Cornell Medical College ran a study that found that you can reduce
blood sugar spikes after a meal if you do this!
In the study, diabetic and
overweight participants were given the same meal – which consisted of chicken, vegetables, salad, bread and orange juice – on two different occasions.
The first time around, they ate the high carbohydrate foods (the bread and orange juice) first, followed by the chicken and veggies.
The second time, they reversed the order. They ate the chicken and veggies first, followed by the bread and orange juice.
The results were astonishing! The second time around, when the carbs were consumed last, the participants reduced their peak blood sugar by one third, and reduced the total rise in blood sugar after the meal by 75%!
So, instead of depriving yourself this festive season, enjoy a little carb deliciousness - but be sure to eat your protein and veggies first!
