The active antibacterial ingredient in many household products might keep you and your home clean, but they could kill you in the long run.
Bloomberg News recently sported the headline “Colgate Total Linked to Hormones, Cancer Spotlights FDA Process”.
It was about a story about the antibacterial found in Colgate Total toothpaste. It contains an ingredient known as triclosan, which has a strong endocrine disruption ability and can lead to cancer.
And it's not just the toothpaste that contains triclosan. It's in soap and other products you use to keep yourself and home clean because of their antibacterial properties.
So why is this ingredient allowed into products you trust and use? And how can you avoid exposure that may lead to cancer?

Your Body’s #1 Defence Against Cancer Is…
There's a smart way to fight cancer
—and it is not by cutting it out, burning it out, or poisoning yourself hoping that the cancer
dies before you do.
No, the smart way to fight cancer
is to separate the good cells from the bad.
No chemo drug can do that.
But your own immune system
can. It’s always your first line of defence. So anything you can do to strengthen it will guard against invaders like rogue cancer cells.

Look at the ingredients in products you use every day
The FDA approved the use of triclosan in the Colgate toothpaste more than 15 years ago.
At that stage, according to Bloomberg News, they knew the effects on your hormones and the link to cancer when they gave the go-ahead to Colgate to use it.
But here’s the thing: They say there’s not enough of it in just one product to cause you health issues.
This begs the question: What about when you use a number of products that contain triclosan? Is this type of exposure enough to disrupt your hormone and lead to cancer?
Well, there’s not much said about that and experts say they’re still figuring out how it’ll affect your health.
But one thing is clear: You need to start taking note of the ingredients in products you use every day. Make yourself aware of what you put on and in your body. Then you can make the decision to avoid the bad stuff where possible and improve your health.
And just out of interest’s sakes, Colgate lost billions of dollars in sales last year. This before the news broke about this cancer-causing ingredient the toothpaste contains.
It seems more people are becoming aware of their health. And are choosing to use natural and organic products
instead of the ones in mass production.
So think about the collective effect the chemicals in each of the products you use every day and the effect they have on your health. You might want to consider going the same way and opting to use more natural and organic products on yourself and in your home…
