When caused by obesity, study shows cancer is even more aggressive than usual

In 2002, the most common cancer
people with obesity got was endometrial cancer. It accounted for around 39% of all obesity related cancer cases.
Next on the list was oesophageal cancer with 37% prevalence followed by kidney cancer at 25%.
In more recent years, the variety of cancers increased. They began to include the liver, lymph modes, stomach, breast and gallbladder cancer.
And the risk of cancer increases exponentially for every category your BMI increase. The risk is also different for men and women.

Shockingly, a high BMI puts you at even greater risk
A BMI of over 25, indicating you're overweight, your risk of cancer is 9% higher than those with a BMI of between 18 and 25;
Over 30 and you risk increases 18%;
Over 35, it jumps to 32%; and
Over 40 and it's at a whopping 64%. At this weight, you're also in the morbidly obese category!
For men, the risk of cancer only increases once you BMI is over 30:
At a BMI of over 30, there is a 9% associated risk;
Over 35, the risk is 20% higher; and
At 40 and above, the risk increases to 52%.
But what is it about carrying extra weight, even just a small amount like in those women with a BMI of over 25, that makes you so susceptible to developing cancer?
Here's what cancer researchers found when they went into a collection of research that had already been done.
Both men and women who are severely overweight
have strong associations to oesophageal, stomach and kidney cancer. And it's the same in all populations across the world except in the Asian continent where breast cancer
features more prominently than the others.
Over 900,000 people were included in the study and the results confirmed that an increase in BMI significantly increases the risk of cancer and also increases the risk of dying from cancer.
People with a BMI of between 18 and 25 have the lowest risk of cancer, but for every 5kg your weight increases, increasing your BMI, your risk of dying from cancer increases 10%.
And this extra weight influences your body's ability to use insulin.
Too much insulin in your blood raises your cancer risk!
As your body weight increases, your cells stop being able to use insulin. Your body still produces insulin so it all collects in your blood.
This over supply of insulin in your blood causes your body to try to correct the problem. But one of the processes it does to achieve this, makes the cell growth process start. This is what researchers believe is the reason cells start to divide and proliferate.
