In a new study, published in the journal Epidemiology
, researchers looked at data for almost 2,000 adults.
660 of them had developed colorectal cancer
And then they looked at one surprising factor - nighttime outdoor artifical lighting by accessing satellite images from the International Space Station.
And it's a good thing they did - because they found that people with the highest levels of artifical nighttime light exposure from their bedrooms had a staggering 60% higher risk of colorectal cancer
The artifical lighting may interfere with the body's ability to produce melatonin and disrupts the Circadian rhythms - and if there's one thing we know is that quality sleep
is paramount to good health!
