If your thyroid gland is overactive, the hormone might have oestrogen-like effects on your body

A new study provides evidence for the link between having an overactive thyroid gland and an increased risk of breast cancer.

You see, thyroid hormone can act like one of the main hormones that causes breast cancer.

Thyroid hormone can bind to your oestrogen receptors and increase their signals for cells to divide and multiply, just like oestrogen does.

It’s when this signalling is too strong and happens too often that the cells may mutate when dividing and become cancerous ones.

And how do you know if you have an overactive thyroid?

By checking these eight symptoms below…

Check your thyroid gland function if you have these eight symptoms
  • Fatigue or muscle weakness.

  • Hand tremors.

  • Mood swings.

  • Nervousness or anxiety.

  • Rapid heartbeat.

  • Heart palpitations or irregular heartbeat.

  • Skin dryness.

  • Trouble sleeping.
Other common symptoms are sweating and losing weight easily. And it’s because your thyroid controls your body’s energy centres and metabolism.

So, if you feel like you’re nervous, jittery or anxious all the time, you have heart palpitation and you toss and turn at night because you’re awake despite feeling tired, it’s time to have your thyroid function tested.

Getting your hormones back in sync as soon as you can is one of the easiest ways to ward off extremely devastating effects later on…
