#1: Low-fat or fat-free milk
A study by researchers at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in the USA found that the more low-fat or fat-free milk women drink, the slower their progression of knee osteoarthritis – a type of arthritis that’s most common in people over age 50.
 
#2: Extra virgin olive oil
Extra virgin olive oil is brimming with a compounds that helps reduce the levels of inflammatory enzymes in your body and, in turn, soothes stiff joints. Experts think that extra virgin olive oil may have the same inflammation-busting properties as NSAIDs!
 
#3: Fatty fish
Fatty fish like mackerel, salmon, tuna and herring are chockfull of omega-3 fatty acids, which help fight aggressive inflammation. According to a body of animal studies, omega-3 fatty acids can help relieve symptoms of osteoarthritis.
 
#4: Wine
A glass of wine a day can keep stiff joints away! According to a UK study, people who drink four to six glasses of wine per week are less likely to get knee osteoarthritis. The researchers attributed this benefit to the high content of antioxidants in wine.

Four foods that worsen stiff joints

#1: Soft drinks
A 2014 Harvard study found that women who drank one sugary soft drink per day were at increased risk of developing rheumatoid arthritis compared with those who didn’t.
