Soothe achy joints and reduce stress by soaking in this lavender essential oil bath
If you're anything like me, the favourite part of your weekly routine is soaking in a hot essential oil bath to ease joint and muscle pain and relieve stress. I can't recommend essential oil baths to you enough!

While you can use many different natural ingredients in your bathwater to better your health and detox (such as clay and Dead sea salts), I swear by essential oils the most because they're not only fantastic for detoxing, but pretty much every aspect of your health.

The soothing lavender bath I'm sharing with you is soothing, incredibly relaxing and wonderfully enjoyable - not to mention cheap and easy. Try it out the next time you're feeling fragile or frazzled - trust me on this.

Why you should take a lavender detox bath

The reasons are simple. A lavender bath will:
  • Help relieve stress;
  • Help ease sore muscles and achy joints;
  • Help soothe migraines and headaches;
  • Give your immune system a boost;
  • Speed up healing when you’re sick; and
  • Keep your toxin burden low.

The health benefits of lavender essential oil, Epsom salts and baking soda

  • Lavender essential oil: I just adore the clean aroma of this essential oil … don’t you? It’s brilliant for eliminating nervous tension, relieving pain, disinfecting your skin and enhancing blood circulation.
  • Epsom salts: Epsom salts are fantastic for relieving stress and pain. A rich source of magnesium, this salt can also help your nerves function properly and improve your skin. When you soak your body in Epsom salts, the salt instantly pulls toxins from your body and restores your sulphate levels.
  • Baking soda: Baking soda is a widely-used natural remedy that’s excellent for both detoxing and skincare. It’s three main benefits are as follows: it helps alkalise your body, it washes acid waste out of your body, and it improves the softness of your skin.

How do I take a lavender detox bath at home?

You’ll need:
  • 10 drops lavender essential oil
  • 1 cup Epsom salts
  • 1 cup baking soda

What to do:
  1. Run a hot bath and add the ingredients to the water.
  2. Hop in and soak for up to an hour. (It’s a good idea to have a favourite book and a glass of wine on hand – just saying!)

How often to take a soothing lavender bath

I recommend taking a lavender detox bath once a week, or as often as you feel frizzed and frazzled. I also suggest staying in the bathwater for at least 30 minutes each time – your body needs that much time to absorb all the oil and minerals.
