Four fool-proof techniques to soothe stiff joints using essential oils
Stiff joints may result from injuries, arthritis, rheumatism or by maintaining bad posture for long periods of time. Fortunately, essential oils can help soothe stiff joints thanks to their anti-inflammatory, anti-rheumatic and antispasmodic properties!

Four ways to treat stiff joints with essential oils

#1: Take an essential oil bath
A warm bath blended with essential oils is an excellent way to relieve joint pain. Combine two drops of rosemary, four drops of juniper berry, two drops of cypress, two drops of lavender and two cups of bath salts. You can make the bath salts by mixing Epsom salt and baking soda in equal amounts. Pour the mixture into a tub, fill the tub with water and allow it to blend for 20 minutes before bathing. Top tip: For  very stiff joints, add a few flakes of sea salt and magnesium chloride!
#2: Give yourself a massage with clove oil
Clove oil has impressive antibacterial, antimicrobial and haemostatic properties, which are fantastic for combating inflammation. Apply a small amount of the oil over your stiff joints and massage it in well. If you have sensitive skin, dilute the clove oil with a carrier oil like coconut oil.

#3: Apply a blend of essential oils
A blend of essential oils such as clove, peppermint, rosemary, lavender, geranium and cinnamon is effective for banishing joint pain. Mix at least three of these oils with a carrier oil to make a 1% dilution (six drops of essential oil for every 30 ml of carrier oil) and apply to your stiff joints twice a day.
#4: Try hot and cold compresses
Hot and cold compresses helps ease joint pain, according to medics – and adding essential oils only boosts the effectiveness of this therapy! Heat water to a comfortable temperature and add four drops of at least three different essential oils of your choice. Dip a towel in the water, squeeze out the excess and then place it on your stiff joints. Apply the hot pack for 15 minutes for each session, altering with a cold pack for a few hours.
