According to Dr Jonathan Wright’s Mineral Medicine, when examining the data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES), researchers uncovered a significant relationship between Boron and prostate cancer risk.

After comparing the diets of nearly 8,000 men, they found that the risk of prostate cancer for men who ate an average of 1.8mg of Boron was less than one-third of the risk for men who consumed half that amount. Researchers aren’t exactly sure of how Boron works to prevent prostate cancer and are conducting more research on this relationship.

Boron’s healing powers don’t end with prostate cancer, this mineral could also help you prevent autoimmune disease.

A group of researchers from the Grand Forks Human Nutrition Research Center reported that studies on animals have shown that the equivalent of 2mg of Boron taken daily prevents the activation of ‘T-helper’ and ‘T suppressor’ cells, both of which are involved in autoimmune disease.

“These results were significant enough to persuade researchers to launch a study of supplemental Boron as a treatment for rheumatoid arthritis, which is often cited as an autoimmune disease,” says Dr Wright.

Although there haven’t been many research studies on it, Boron is frequently emphasised as a mineral that helps build strong bones. “You might want to consider adding 6mg to your osteoporosis-fighting program,” says Dr Wright.
