Tip1: Rock your pelvis. Rock your pelvis and lower back forward and up using your chair arms for support.
Your tailbone should lift off the seat and your lower back will arch forward. Hold the position for three to five seconds and repeat it four times. Then get back to work.
Tip2: If you do a lot of reading at a desk, try using a slant board that’ll lift the material 7cm to 15cm off your desk. This not only makes it easier to read, it eliminates the head down position that’s murder on your neck and spine.
Tip3: After sitting for a long time, try reading or writing at a makeshift stand up desk.
Sometimes a file cabinet is the right height. 20minutes at your make shift standing desk and you’ll be ready to sit again.
Tip4: Try temporarily propping up your head with your elbow on your desk and your palm under your chin. You can still write and read, but now the muscles around your neck have support and can relax for a bit while your head still stays upright.
Well there you have it. Use these tips to relax your body while working and you’ll be sure to avoid back pain.
