Two common reasons your back hurts when you have IBS...

When you suffer from IBS, there are two main reasons for back pain.

The first is referred pain. And, in the case of IBS, that pain comes from your gut. It‟s so common, in fact, that studies show women who have IBS are more likely to experience back pain than women who don‟t.

The second reason comes from all that straining you do when you‟re constipated and trying to find relief on the toilet.

Constipation occurs from obstructions in your system or from slow transit time through the colon. When back pain is a factor, obstructive constipation is usually to blame. Obstructive constipation is fairly self descriptive; defecation is painful or halted due to a blockage.

Although defecation stops, the traffic in the intestines does not. Just like a real life traffic jam, it gets worse before it gets better. When blockage becomes significantly backed up, pressure on the lower back can increase and pain can result.”

Four ways to find relief from constipation and back pain

Get addicted – to water. Dehydration exacerbates constipation so make sure you drink at least eight glasses a day.

Eat more fresh fruits and vegetables – they‟re rich in fibre and enzymes that assist with bowel movements.

Get up and move. The reason here is simple: Being sedentary makes things settle, motion keeps things moving. And when you suffer from constipation, that's exactly what you want.
Do a body cleanse. If your system is clogged up with junk and toxins, it's not going to operate very well and chronic constipation might occur.

Try these tips. You'll may be surprised to discover your back pain has disappeared in a few short days.
