Three fat-burning foods that will help you shed kilos while you sleep
It's a problem you face every time you go on a diet: You're starving just before bed, but you don't want to eat something that will derail your weight loss efforts. Turns out, going to bed with a rumbling tummy could actually do more harm…

When you go to bed hungry, you're more likely to wake up starving and opt something high in calories for breakfast. Making matters worse, trying to sleep on an empty stomach means unrestful sleep, and sleep deprivation stimulates hormones that regulate your hunger, meaning you crave junk food.

It therefore goes without saying that if you're trying to lose weight, you should always go to bed on a satisfied stomach. But which foods can you eat before heading to bed that won't undo all your efforts? Read on for four fat-burning foods that will help you shed kilos while getting your beauty sleep!

Four fat-burning foods you should eat before bed

#1: Greek yoghurt
Greek yoghurt is chockfull of protein, which will fill you up and help build lean muscle while you snooze. A study published in the American Journal of Physiology found that eating protein just before you sleep help stimulate protein synthesis, which helps grow and repair muscle. Plus, Greek yoghurt is low in sugar (the unsweetened varieties, at least).

#2: Peanut butter toast
Peanut butter toast is a tasty snack any time of day, but especially before bed. That’s because peanuts are rich in tryptophan, an amino acid that induces sleep, and whole wheat toast contains B vitamins, that help you absorb tryptophan. Peanut butter is also loaded with monounsaturated fat, which helps blast belly fat.

#3: Cherries
Cherries aren’t only good for satisfying your sweet tooth without the guilt – they can also help you get better shut-eye. Cherries are packed with melatonin, the hormone that regulates sleep. A study seen in the Journal of Medicinal Food found that adults who drink tart cherry juice before bed had improvements in sleep quality and duration. As a bonus, cherries are brimming with antioxidants, which help move the scale.

It may sound too good to be true, but these fat-burning foods can really help you burn fat while you sleep!
