Forget weight-loss teas! These common teas will help you shed kilos
Weight-loss teas are on everyone's lips right now, which may have you wondering if these so-called miraculous drinks that are filled with unpronounceable ingredients are backed by any scientific evidence. We hate to break it to you, but all the talk about weight-loss teas is just that: Talk.

Truth is, no tea will lead to significant weight loss. However, some common, straight-off-the-shelf teas have ingredient that directly or indirectly support weight loss. Green tea is one of them that we all already know about - here are three others.

Three common teas that support weight loss

#1: White tea
Unlike green or black tea, white tea leaves aren’t oxidised, so they retain a higher concentration of catechins – a type of natural phenol and antioxidant that has been shown to promote heart health and reduce risk of cancer. The catechins found in this tea may also boost metabolism and promoe the loss of abdominal fat. Like green tea, the fat-burning combination of catechins in white tea works in a synergetic way to promote weight loss. So, make sure you opt for caffeinated white tea.

#2: Oolong tea
Oolong tea is super-rich in tea polyphenols, which offer a plethora of health benefits. Similar to green tea, it’s suggested that oolong tea can reduce body weight and decrease body fat through enhancing fat metabolism. Some small studies have shown that this tea raises metabolism by around 3%. However, more research is needed to determine if this metabolism boost is short-term or has a longer-lasting effect.

#3: Chamomile tea
Chamomile tea is renowned for its ability to promote relaxation and induce sleep thanks to its abundance of flavonoids. It’s no secret that sleep deprivation hinders weight-loss progress, so if you can catch more z’s by sipping this tea before bed, it may indirectly help you lose weight. When it comes to sleep, remember that it’s all about routine – so make your cup of chamomile part of your nightly bedtime ritual.

You’ll find these teas at any supermarket or health food store.
