In a first of its kind study, researchers from Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School in Singapore, found the place you choose to eat plays a significant role too.

Experts at the Duke-NUS University wanted to know what’s contributing to the world’s soaring high blood pressure
rates. And what people can change within their own lives to keep it from leaving them with heart disease
, stroke or kidney damage.
Head researcher Professor Tazeen Jafar and one of her students, took data about blood pressure, body mass index and eating habits from 501 university students between the ages of 18 to 40.
During the study, they found one strong connection between the students that had either prehypertension or hypertension itself.
Almost 30% of the study group suffered with prehypertension. Amongst them, 40% ate more than 12 meals away from home each week.
And that’s how researchers came to the conclusion it was these meals, eaten away from home, that contributed to the student’s high blood pressure
