American researchers find that whole tart cherries help fight inflammation

According to the study, which was conducted by researchers from the University of Michigan in the USA, tart cherries may reduce two common markers of blood vessel inflammation by up to 50%.
 
To reach their findings, researchers gave whole tart cherries to lab rats. They also noted that the cherry eaters picked up less weight and experienced big drops in cholesterol.
 

You should eat 1.5 cups of tart cherries a day to reap the inflammation-fighting benefits

Try this recipe for cherry and hemp energy bites

These cherry and hemp energy bites are a great way to get your daily dose of cherries and other superfoods! They’re great as a snack or a healthy after dinner treat.
 
Ingredients:
  • ½ cup fresh tart cherries, seeds removed
  • ½ cup pepitas
  • ½ cup shredded coconut
  • ½ cup almond meal
  • 2 tbsp rice syrup or 1 tbsp pure raw honey
  • ½ cup hemp seeds for coating
  • 3 tbsp cacao butter, melted
  • ½ slab dark chocolate, melted

Method:
1.    Place pepitas, and shredded coconut in food processor till grounded.
2.   Place in the cherries, almond meal, cacao, raspberry chocolate and syrup to the food processor and pulse till it forms a paste.
3.   Roll into balls and coat with the hemp seeds. Then place on baking paper and place in the freezer to set for 3-4 hours.
4.   Then store in a container and keep in the fridge for 4-5 days.
