One study recently published in the British Medical Journal (BMJ) that looked at the blood glucose monitoring habits of 18 patients with type 2 diabetes over a three-year period found that eight of these patients developed “monitoring fatgue” and weren't checking their blood sugar levels regularly.

According to the study, these patients stopped testing their blood sugar levels every day because they weren't sure how to interpret high readings or what to do about them. Furthermore, they thought their doctor was more concerned about haemoglobin A1C and seemed uninterested in their daily results.
