Are you a couch potato? You could be making your rheumatoid arthritis worse!

Researchers find that half of women and more than 40% of men are couch potatoes. This despite their need to exercise because they suffer from rheumatoid arthritis! But what researchers from Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, found in their study was a shock! 50% of women and more than 40% of men with the disease don’t do even the bare minimum of 30 minutes of exercise a day. 
 
Further to that, only one in seven men met this requirement, while only one in 12 women did! Andt when asked about their physical activity in a survey, participants overstated their activity levels. 
 
"We had assumed that people might be overstating physical activity in past self-reported data. But were surprised to find that the physical activity rates were much, much lower," study author Dorothy Dunlop.

Don’t take exercise for granted when you suffer from the symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis!
 
The reason you don’t want to exercise is that your joints are stiff and sore. But did you know that the longer you sit on the couch, the worse your condition becomes? 
 
That’s why it’s so important to exercise. When you’re up and about, you improve the range of motion and flexibility in your joints. This decreases your pain and discomfort automatically! And the benefits far outweigh the risks of exercise, if you’re concerned about that!
 
The bottom line: Get at least 30 minutes of moderate activity every day. You’re bound to notice an improvement in your symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis once you start exercising!
